It took place, today 28th January of 2012 around 4pm, in Idanha-a-Nova the Portugal “O” Meeting 2013 press conference.
There were present the Mayor of Idanha, Álvaro Rocha, the vice-Mayor and sport city councilman Eng. Armindo Jacinto, financial director of POM, Jacinto Eleutério and the headmaster of the Portugal O'meeting event, Mário Duarte.
In the presence of the local press and institutions, the mayor highlighted how important will be this event for the region, and thanked for the organizer club (ADFA) for choosing this region to organize this event.
The vice-mayor spoken also about the long time partnership between the club and the city, motivated by the excellent conditions that the region offers for the sport. This is not the first event in the region motivated by ADFA, it took already place several competitions of the national calendar of orienteering and now, crowned with Portugal “O” Meeting, the biggest race in Portuguese calendar.
The headmaster showed the detailed programme of the competition and spoke about the difficulties that such organization had of being planned so far from Évora, place where ADFA has its headquarter. He referred also the number of athletes that will be present from such a variety of countries, and 52 of whose, are in top100 of world ranking, include Matthias Kyburz (leader of world ranking), Olav Lundanes (2nd place) the middle distance king Thierry Gueorgiou (2rd place) and Simone Niggli, the female leader.
