In the middle of Serra da Estrela, this park is situated in a rural area, named Quinta da Barrachota, about 5 minutes from Gouveia’s centre. The park has a total area of 6 hectares, being a part of it occupied with infrastructures to back up the existing fauna. The routes are marked, in an area of 2987 hectares, allowing the visitor to enjoy the contact with nature and to get to know the regional flora.
The park is not meant to be a showcase, but an interactive place where you can conjugate leisure and environmental education. This is what it is really meant to do: to value the educational aspects in order to touch and stimulate the individual for the defence of the environment. Being such an important touristic infrastructure to Gouveia, the park has become an important tool in the area of Environmental Education. Therefore, we suggest the visitor to participate in the activities that the park develops, namely by getting the Park’s “Caderno de Campo”, that allows you to enjoy your visit.
