Technical Detail:

- Maximum time allowed for the course: 1 hour and 30 minutes.

The whole route to be followed consists of hard paved roads (tarmac, or stones), suitable for wheelchairs, although there are a couple of steeper slopes. It is not allowed to step out of the hard paved roads, nor to cross sections that will be marked with indicative tape in the terrain, and purple overprinting in the map; any competitor that fails to comply with this will be disqualified.

It is mandatory to maintain SILENCE during the whole course, and the only navigational aids that competitors may use are the map and control descriptions (provided by the organization), and a compass. No aiding devices are allowed, other than a magnifying glass (either incorporated in the compass or separate), an odometer, and a watch. The use of any communication devices will bring disqualification to the competitor.

Eventual complaints must be made, by a competitor, to the competition office, or the course direction, no later than 30 minutes after the competitor has finished is/her course.

Rules

The rules that apply to the competition are the “Regulamento de Competições 2014” of the Portuguese Orienteering Federation (“Federação Portuguesa de Orientação, FPO”). Cases that are not contemplated there will be decided by the organization, taking into consideration the "Competition Rules for IOF trail Orienteering Events" (valid from 1 January 2014).

Since several of the implemented challenges have some technical difficulty, we strongly recommend the reading of the following IOF documents: Technical Introduction to "Trail Orienteering for Experienced Foot Orienteers", and, especially, "Technical Guidelines for Elite Trail Orienteering".
