Night Sprint

The POM 2026 Night Sprint will take place in the Mira-Villas resort. This is a non-competitive extra sprint, held in a uniquely scenic setting.

Schedule
  • Babysitting opens: 18:30
  • First start: 19:00
  • Start window for Open and Beginner classes: 19:15–20:30
  • Finish Close: 22:00
Parking
  • During the Night Sprint, circulation of vehicles belonging to Portugal “O” Meeting participants is strictly prohibited within the urban areas of the MiraVillas and MiraOásis developments.

  • Access to the Night Sprint must be made via the roundabout at the entrance to Praia de Mira, as shown on the map.

  • Parking will begin along the access road to MiraVillas (40.4442, -8.7896), on both sides of the road. After completing their race, drivers must turn around and return via the same route. At the roundabout, a left turn is mandatory.

  • Once the access road to MiraVillas is full, parking will take place along the main road, on one side only, as indicated on the map.

  • The distance between the parking area and the Arena ranges from 300 to 1,200 metres.

Night Sprint Arena
  • Arena Location: 40.4370, -8.7880
  • In the arena you will find the Event Office, babysitting services, first aid and toilets.
  • The arena also hosts the restaurant Pátio do Tabuinhas, an excellent option for dinner after the Night Sprint (advance booking is recommended).

  • Symbol Set and Rules – Map drawn in accordance with the International Specification for Sprint Orienteering Maps 2019-2 of the International Orienteering Federation (IOF).
    • There are forest sections with grassy ground, offering excellent runnability. These areas have not been mapped with the “white” symbol (405 Forest), but instead with symbol 402 Open land with scattered trees.
  • Terrain – An engaging mix of urban areas, gardens and forest. The forested sections are generally very clean and fast to run through.
  • In the event of rain, the surface becomes extremely slippery in several areas, particularly on wooden surfaces and ceramic paving, which are present in parts of the competition area.
