Model Event
From Thursday, 12 February, to Tuesday, 17 February
- Model Event maps must be collected at the Event Centre, located at the Museu dos Palheiros de Mira – Praia de Mira.
Important information about the Model Event terrain
In the Model Event area, there are several marshes. Due to the heavy rainfall in recent weeks, these marshes currently contain a much higher volume of water than usual.
In some areas, there is also standing water in locations where marsh is not mapped.
Model Event Map Information
- Map – Mira Norte
- Check the Mira Norte map – Forest stages page
- Scales – 1:7500, 1:10000 & 1:15000 (on the same sheet, printed on both sides)
- Map Sheet Size – A4+ Landscape
- Controls – 12 control points, marked in the terrain with a control post and flag (no SPORTident unit)
- Recommended course – A recommended order for completing the Model Event is indicated on the map. The recommended course is 5.9 km long.
Parking
Parking: At the Mira’s Shooting Range parking lot: 40.4530, -8.7627.
Once full, participants must park along the dirt road.
All caravans and buses must park along the dirt road.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Please be aware that there is an active Shooting Range within the Model Event map area, and gunfire may therefore be heard. Athletes should take this into account; however, there is no cause for concern.
